Wellness Hub Thailand, The Land of Life This is more than just a concept; it is a national strategy and Thailand’s premier health-related “Soft Power.”
As a global leader in medical tourism, Thailand has embraced this momentum by launching the “Wellness Hub Thailand” strategy. Data from the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) cited at the event reveals that Thailand’s wellness economy grew by 28.4% between 2022 and 2023—the highest growth rate in the world. Furthermore, the wellness tourism sector expanded by 36.4% during 2023–2024, ranking 3rd globally.
These figures confirm that BDMS Wellness Clinic and PPSI are operating within industries with peak growth potential. Aligning themselves with the national strategy will significantly accelerate organizational growth.

Dr. Tanupol Virunhagarun, Chief Executive Officer of BDMS Wellness Clinic and BDMS Wellness Resort, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL (BDMS), stated:
“While the world evolves rapidly, people are facing greater health challenges than ever—from aging societies and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) to urban stress, sleep deprivation, burnout, and physical-mental imbalances. These issues are not unique to Thailand but reflect a global reality. BDMS Wellness Clinic recognizes this critical challenge and believes that the sustainable solution lies not in treating symptoms, but in promoting preventive healthcare knowledge, empowering everyone to take proper care of themselves before illnesses occur.”

Dr. Sanguan Kunaporn, Director of the Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI), joined the panel as a national expert in plastic surgery alongside Dr. Pitchaporn Thanapongsathorn, Assistant Director of BDMS Wellness Clinic and Director of Business Development. They discussed elevating Thailand into a premier “Wellness Hub.”
In his presentation, “Aesthetic and Reconstructive Care for Natural, Confident Outcomes,” Dr. Sanguan highlighted PPSI’s development as a specialized institute with international standards. PPSI prioritizes patient safety through the “4 Diamonds of ISAPS” framework: patient-centric care, standardized procedures, a team of specialized plastic surgeons, and world-class facilities ready for international clients. He also showcased research work published in the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (APS) journal.
Forging Cross-Industry Alliances to Create a Seamless Wellness Ecosystem This success is not achieved in isolation but is driven by “The Journey Within” concept. This initiative leverages public-private partnerships to create the most comprehensive “Wellness Ecosystem” possible.
As people realize that health is the foundation of quality of life, lifestyle and travel behaviors are shifting. Travel today is no longer just an escape from exhaustion but has become a “Space for Restoration”—helping to systematically reset the body, rejuvenate the mind, and restore balance.

The event received overwhelming interest from business representatives, medical professionals, tourism experts, and Australian media. Attendees expressed strong confidence in Thailand’s potential regarding “Healthspan” (the period of life spent in good health). This marks a significant step in opening new doors for economic cooperation in the health sector between Thailand and Australia, proudly announcing Thailand’s readiness to become the Wellness Hub of Asia.
